Surrogacy in Switzerland

The Assisted Medical Technology law prohibits the use of medical therapies used in medicine. In Switzerland, artificial fertilization and some fertility treatments are allowed but egg donation, surrogacy, embryo freezing and donation, PGD and the use of embryos for research purposes are strictly prohibited. The Swiss parliament is going to revise this law shortly. But while childless couples are often forced to travel abroad to solve the problem of infertility. The Swiss often choose Ukraine and Russia for this purpose. Every year couples from Switzerland come to Ukrainian and Russian reproductive centers for infertility treatment in order to avoid problems with the law in their homeland. Ukraine is considered the center of surrogacy in the world due to favorable legislation in the field of reproductive medicine. Advantages of surrogacy programs in Ukraine and Russia: surrogacy agencies work under an agreement that protects the rights of a surrogate mother and biological parents, affordable cost, high quality medical services, a wide range of reproductive technology centers with their own databases of surrogate mothers and reproductive cell donors, registration of a complete package of documents for a newborn.
